Iraqi-Swedish duo Hillah Småland, present fricative soundscapes of an East/West emergence. Where icy sounds of a synthesiser contrast against the narrative of Diasporic noises - a sonic materialisation of a place where chanterelle mushrooms grow on date palm trees.

Previously airing on Internet Public Radio and performing for Radiophrenia, Glasgow, 2020

This performance is an acoustic enquiry of the Iraqi community in Sweden, with emphasis on the forceful nature of Swedish-assimilation demands on migrants.
(please note the mask worn by the synth player is not blackface)
